I love chocolate, but I can't stand the american brand types. They just have a weird taste and texture and the consistency is all wrong. A lot of german chocolate is also way too sweet. The best kind is the kind with lots of cocoa, milk and nuts, and of course very little sugar. If you ever come to Norway, make sure you get yourself a few bars of our milk chocolates: Freia Melkesjokolade and Bergene Melk are the best. And yes they come in these huge packages that if you stack 3 or 4 on top of eachother you can probably bludgeon someone to death with them. Death by chocolate!
We also tend to love the darker kind, going as far up as 92%, but I find that to be way to bitter for my tastes.

Finally, someone who likes REAL chocolate!!!  European chocolate is the best because they care about quality.  I'll take one of each:)

I think a lot of people state side have no idea what they are missing out on. My BF worked a couple of months in the states and brought back iconic candies and "foods" and after testing them out we came to the conclusion that most of the candy tasted horribly and very artificial. We even got to taste pop tarts and gawd, how can people eat that stuff??? It's bland, tasteless, feels like cardboard and tastes nothing but sugar. Please don't tell me people actually eat these for breakfast? If someone tried to eat that stuff here they would be laughed at for eating a dessert for the first meal of the day.

But yeah we seem to have a bigger focus on quality over quantity here, I love food made with less fat and sugar and I am willing to pay quite a lot for some of my country's delicacies. Like our salted and dried sausages made from moose, deer, beaver and even bear! Doubt I'll ever get to taste those bear sausages ever again, especially when they only get made when they have to kill bears that kill livestock. Our bear population is more or less endangered sadly.

Yes, a totally different culture here.  For the most part the focus on food quality is low and you have tasted the results.  That's another reason why we eat wild sustainable meats in our house that are handled properly by ourselves.  It makes a difference for sure!

Isn't it great how a satire Valentine can stimulate healthy conversation?  That is ART my friend...

Indeed.

And if I could afford a rifle at the moment, I would be out there hunting my own food as well, but a good quality rifle costs a small fortune and I am sadly no fan of shotguns. But soon...

I'd probably kick the man out, lock the door and refuse to open it until some real chocolate was produced, and extra, as compensation for daring to bring cheap "chocolate" into my house!
